Many Korg SQ1 owners probably wonder how to easily sync their sequencers with their DAWs.

Due to its USB port plug and play capability, it’s pretty easy to plug the device and get it enabled in Ableton.

The machine should already send MIDI to Ableton if you just make sure that you have the Track input enabled, coming from SQ1, after the sequencer has been connected.

Go to Preferences -> Link/MIDI -> under SQ1 make sure the Track parameter is set to On, and the device sends signal.

In order to properly keep the tempo with your DAW, you need to use an external sync to send the output required to have the tempo set in your SQ1.

Korg SyncKontrol is available for iOS devices, and you can find it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/synckontrol/id438617344?mt=8

Install the software and use tempo button to set your desired BPM. You can also use the “Tap” button that works surprisingly well. There’s also a “swing” parameter, allowing the user to set the micro timing of tempo.

Enjoy and use it wisely.
